Number One Killer of Marriages in the U.S.?

According to research from the University of Denver, the biggest killer of marriages in this nation is not the sliding economy, lack of sex, yours/spouse’s in-laws or actually even that Blackberry/Iphone. It is NOT LISTENING. No kidding. Read that again so we know you are…
Anyway, Tom and Betty are carriers in our own 40 year marriage! Hardly a day goes by that one or both of us do not say in some way or other, “Hey, I don’t think you’re listening.” Sound familiar?

The cure? Work on your listening skills. Check out www.prepinc.org if you want a tool called “The Floor” to help. Or try to simply reflect back what you just heard (only the last couple of sentences spoken) with, “So, it sounds like you think we need groceries.” Hard? Only if you are busy getting your own response armed, rather than listening to your partner here.
